Intro to Allamanda Pinot Grigio – Allamanda Pinot Grigio from Veneto Italy is a fresh, dry white with gentle floral and citrus aromas. Crisp and delicate on the palate with lightly honeyed fruit balanced by lemony acidity and a fresh, dry finish. Full description and wine making – Allamanda Pinot Grigio is produced from selected Pinot Grigio grapes grown on hillside vineyards just south of Milan and the Veneto in northern Italy. The grapes were hand harvested during the first two weeks of September. The grapes were crushed and gently pressed and the juice allowed to settle and clarify before cool fermentation at sixteen to 18C in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine was bottled young after a period of three to six months ageing on fine lees in stainless steel tanks. The Producer – The Allamanda Pinot Grigio is made by Adria Vini which is a winemaking venture jointly owned by Boutinot and Araldica Castelvero that was established in 2003. It is the leading co-operative in the Monferrato hills of Piemonte and aims to produce authentic, well-priced still and sparkling wines from local grape varieties. All aspects of production, from grape selection through to vinification, maturation, blending and bottling are meticulously overseen by Araldica’s winemaking team of Claudio Manera, Lella Burdese and Carlo Manera. Production is twelve million bottles annually and the wines are exported to more than twenty countries worldwide. The co-operative sources grapes from a range of private growers and other cooperatives, with whom we have long term relationships, principally in Veneto, Friuli, Lombardy, Sicily, Puglia, Abruzzo and Sardinia. Drink with – A highly versatile dry white, ideal as an aperitif or to accompany foods such as seafood, grilled fish, salads and cold white meats.
