Intro to Allamanda Pinot Grigio Rose – Allamanda Pinot Grigio Rose is made from Pinot Grigio with a small amount of Pinot Noir to add flavour to this dry fruity wine with a crisp flavour of ripe berries and cherries. Full tasting note and wine making – Allamanda Pinot Grigio Rose from Italy is a pretty, delicate pink rose with red berry and strawberry aromas. A fresh and fruity palate is packed full of summer berry fruit with a soft, rounded mouthfeel, the slightest touch of sweetness balanced by refreshing red cherry crush on the finish. The grapes are grown in northern Italy in hillside vineyards and hand harvested in early September. The extra ripeness allows the dark-skinned Pinot Grigio grapes develop a pink tinge which is further enhanced by the addition of a small proportion of Pinot Noir grapes from the same vineyards. The grapes were harvested at optimum ripeness and transported to Adria’s cellars where they were crushed and the skins left in contact with the juice for 12 hours at low temperature before gentle pressing. After a slow, cool fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks the wine was bottled young to preserve freshness and aromas. The producer – The Allamanda Pinot Grigio Rose is made by Adria Vini which is a winemaking venture jointly owned by Boutinot and Araldica Castelvero that was established in 2003. It is the leading co-operative in the Monferrato hills of Piemonte and aims to produce authentic, well-priced still and sparkling wines from local grape varieties. All aspects of production, from grape selection through to vinification, maturation, blending and bottling are meticulously overseen by Araldica’s winemaking team of Claudio Manera, Lella Burdese and Carlo Manera. Production is 12 million bottles annually and the wines are exported to more than 20 countries worldwide. The co-operative sources grapes from a range of private growers and other cooperatives, with whom we have long term relationships, principally in Veneto, Friuli, Lombardy, Sicily, Puglia, Abruzzo and Sardinia.
