Intro to Banyuls Bila-Haut VDN – Banyuls Bila-Haut VDN is a full deep red dessert wine full of rich brambly fruits on nose and palate. Full tasting note and wine making – Banyuls Bila-Haut VDN has a powerful nose, shifting between black fruit and red berries, giving it a lovely freshness, subtly complemented by notes of cocoa. On the palate, it is balanced between the strength of the wine and the fineness of its tannins. It has a great persistency with richness which develops easily on the palate. 100% Grenache Noir Vin Doux Naturel from ancient terraced vineyards. Made from hand-harvested grapes where the fermentation is stopped by addition of spirit. The wine is then aged for 8 months The fruit used for this wine is from terraced vineyards on old mica-schist from the Primary era, the grapes are hand-harvested when they are very ripe. The Languedoc Roussillon region bucked the trend this year. Unlike most French wine regions, the Roussillon was spared disastrous weather and extreme temperatures. Production this year was higher than previous years and the vintage is of great quality. The grapes are destemmed and crushed. The maceration is long with an addition of alcohol to favour the extraction of aromas and tannins. The producer – M.CHAPOUTIER range encompasses some of the best appellations in France. The soul of the brand is the Rhône Valley that offers wines from everyday Tradition, through classic ‘Grand Crus’ of Prestige, to select wines of Excellence and experimental wines of Alchemy, all the way to true gems of the region in the Fac & Spera range. Southern France is represented by a set of discovery wines from Mathilde Chapoutier Sélection together with Domaine de Bila-Haut gems from Roussillon, Provence selection from Château des Ferrages and easy-drinking wines from Marius range. The comprehensive portfolio is completed by a selection of wines from Alsace and German side of the Rhine valley. With roots dating back to 1808, M. CHAPOUTIER is one of the oldest companies in the Rhône Valley. Yet, its world renown and the quality of wine can truly be accredited to the arrival of Michel Chapoutier in 1990. His willingness to change the set way, thirst for knowledge and open-mindedness, together with his drive to seek, discover and reflect the full potential of our terroirs, letting the soils express their true character, has put our wines firmly on the wine world map. This philosophy is what gives our wines their signature style, forms the basis of the M. CHAPOUTIER ethos and drives our team to reveal the very best of what the soils have to offer.
